Project: Gambia Is Strong

Developed by Schumann Real Estate

The strength of Project Gambia resonates through the collaborative efforts of key figures. Special recognition is due to the mayors of Sanyang, Kartong, Batukunku, and Marakissa, who played pivotal roles. Minister of Defense Omar Faye, emphasizing the project’s significance, underscores the imperative for The Gambia’s success.

The project’s primary goal is to fortify The Gambia’s economic foundation, resulting in the establishment of numerous companies. Sanyang, particularly, has emerged as an economic powerhouse on the West Coast.

The construction of a port stands as a testament to these efforts, providing homes, land and employment to thousands, sparking a construction and investment surge that reverberates across The Gambia.

In collaboration with numerous enterprises acorss the country, including hotels and restaurants, the MIT Business Association Africa has fostered a symbiotic relationship, significantly boosting tourist numbers. To support this growth, sand mines have been repurposed as fish farms, addressing the crucial need for food security independent of declining sea fish stocks, a matter emphasized by Minister Fehe.

The ambitious target of breeding 10 million fish annually in The Gambia aligns with the project’s long-term vision.

The completion of the first farm in Marakissa, capable of producing up to 3 million fish annually, marks a significant milestone for national development. Additional farms are already in the planning stages.

The project has spurred the founding of new companies in The Gambia, facilitated by the MIT SME and Economic Union. The business association, boasting 26,000 members, has successfully established the MIT Entrepreneurs Association for Africa headquarters in The Gambia. Companies participating in this initiative enjoy tax advantages, further solidifying The Gambia’s economic resilience.

Project Gambia is undeniably strong, and gratitude is extended to The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) General Darboe for their unwavering support.
